High Country Member News

Welcome all High Country families. We are excited to get the new school year started with you. Home schooling is an amazing blessing that each of us get to participate in, and High Country is here to be part of that journey. High Country is a place where we get to be reminded we are not alone and we can do this. The community here has inspired me to try new things with my children and encouraged me when homeschooling seemed hard. God is the one that gives us the strength and guidance in our homeschooling journey. He is also the one that provides this ministry, where we can encourage on another. I am grateful to be back onsite with you all and look forward to many great memories. I want to encourage you to not be shy; sit at a table with other families during classes, go on the playground with your children. The best way to meet each other is just saying hi and find out other’s interests. High Country has an amazing group of families. Please do not leave a day without meeting someone. I look forward to a great year with you! ~Erica Danielson

HCEC offers a variety of enrichment classes on Tuesdays and Wednesdays for students from Kindergarten through High School.  The classes are designed to supplement your home schooling program, not replace it.  You can still sign up for classes during Student Orientation on August 20th. Details below.

WE NEED YOU! Serving is the best way to meet fellow homeschooling parents! Please consider if you have an hour to give to the ministry. You do get paid, plus you get to socialize. If you are already an approved Vital Partner, sign up at Student Orientation. If you are not approved yet, start HERE.

ACADEMY NEWS

HCCA (High Country Christian Academy) maintains student records and provides accountability for the home-educating family. Parents submit a curriculum plan of their choosing and fill out four quarterly reports each year. In return, HCCA provides report cards, high school transcripts, and awards diplomas upon completion of our graduation requirements. Curriculum consultation is also available to HCCA families.

On Wednesday, August 19, following HCEC Student Orientation at 12:15 we will be holding an information training meeting. We will cover the HCHE member portal, HCCA enrollment requirements, curriculum, quarterly reporting, and more. Please join us!

There are so many ways to get involved at High Country! Find life-long friends, encouragement for your journey or use your gifts and talents for furthering the ministry of High Country.

Do you have a teenage homeschooler who is looking for a place to connect with other homeschooled teens, make friends, hang out, and have some fun? The Immerse Teen Group is the place for them! Immerse provides a great way for our High Country Teens to get plugged in with other homeschoolers in a Christ-centered environment. Adult chaperones are present at each meeting. Students must be at least 13 years old and a registered member of High Country Home Educators for the current school year to be eligible. In addition, parents must complete the Teen Group Registration form for students to begin participating in events.

LOCAL & STATE RESOURCES

I waited patiently for the LORD; and He inclined to me, and heard my cry. He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my steps. He has put a new song in my mouth— praise to our God; many will see it and fear, and will trust in the LORD.

~ Psalm 40:1-3 NKJV
