High Country Member News

Welcome all High Country families. We are excited to get the new school year started with you. Home schooling is an amazing blessing that each of us get to participate in, and High Country is here to be part of that journey. High Country is a place where we get to be reminded we are not alone and we can do this. The community here has inspired me to try new things with my children and encouraged me when homeschooling seemed hard. God is the one that gives us the strength and guidance in our homeschooling journey. He is also the one that provides this ministry, where we can encourage on another. I am grateful to be back onsite with you all and look forward to many great memories. I want to encourage you to not be shy; sit at a table with other families during classes, go on the playground with your children. The best way to meet each other is just saying hi and find out other’s interests. High Country has an amazing group of families. Please do not leave a day without meeting someone. I look forward to a great year with you! ~Erica Danielson

Immerse Teens

“This is a place where our homeschooled teens can come together, meet new friends, laugh, eat, have a wonderful time, and create some really fun memories! We focus on creating a very safe and comfortable environment and encourage participation and friendship development through organized activities. This amazing group of teens is unlike most and whether they are battling it out in laser tag, playing games, or rock climbing they are excited to be enjoying the moment together.” Shawnee Wehrmann, Immerse Leader.

Mentor Moms

These moms are a few steps ahead on the homeschooling path. They’ve finished the elementary years and now have middle or high school students, so they remember what those early days were like. Many are nearing the end of their homeschooling years and are eager to give back. When you request a mentor, we’ll connect you with a mom who’s ready to listen, share her experiences, offer tips for organizing your school day, answer your questions about curriculum, and provide encouragement, prayer, and any other support you need as you find your footing. Mentoring meet-ups are typically about an hour, so you can get the help you need without feeling overwhelmed.

To Connect With A MOM

Single Moms & Military

Our Family Care leader is here to support you as you navigate the world of homeschooling. The hope is that you build a strong, safe community of single moms and military who support and encourage one another. If you're interested, please send a message to familycare@hche.org.

Field Trips & Events

Field trips, skating parties, park days and other activities are a great way for you and your student to meet new friends and learn with other homeschooling families. Be sure to check the newsletter and online listing for upcoming events.

Family Care Ministry

Our mission is to be the body of Christ in a practical way, by bringing meals and friendship to High Country families during difficult times. Hand-in-Hand volunteers receive emails when there is a need such as a surgery, birth, or family emergency. Reach out to our family care coordinator if you would like to serve in this ministry, or have a need, at familycare@hche.org.

ACADEMY NEWS

HCCA (High Country Christian Academy) maintains student records in a school location, providing accountability for the home-educating family. Parents submit a curriculum plan of their choosing and fill out four quarterly reports each year. In return, HCCA provides report cards, high school transcripts, and awards diplomas upon completion of our graduation requirements. Curriculum consultation is also available to HCCA families.

On Wednesday, August 20, following HCHE Student Orientation at 12:15 in room 160, we will be holding an information training meeting. We will cover the new database, HCCA enrollment requirements, curriculum, quarterly reporting, and more. Please join us!

LOCAL & STATE RESOURCES

I waited patiently for the LORD; and He inclined to me, and heard my cry. He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my steps. He has put a new song in my mouth— praise to our God; many will see it and fear, and will trust in the LORD.

~ Psalm 40:1-3 NKJV
